Specialist Care- Brampton View

Brampton view is situated on the Welford Road three miles north of the town centre. The home is in a stunning area between Kingsthorpe and Boughton. It is close to Kingsthorpe shopping center which includes retail stores, recreational and leisure facilities and is also a short bus journey from the town center.

Aim
At Brampton View the rights of our service users are at the forefront of our philosophy of promoting independence and individuality in a supportive, caring environment. We seek to enhance these rights in all aspects of the services we provide.

The primary objective of the home is to deliver a high quality service working in partnership with other professionals, whilst providing a safe, comfortable atmosphere where individuals can feel at home.

Service
Brampton View is a registered residential care home for six people with Learning Disabilities and Complex needs or dual diagnosis of additional mental health needs. Brampton View provides services to users who require additional support than what currently is provided within 'mainstream' placements, due to their challenging behavior, who
require high levels of support and risk management or those who
require intensive support and supervision to manage their challenging behaviors.

Brampton View practices behavior modification techniques as part of a variety of alternative therapies to manage challenging behaviors.

Facilities
Brampton View is a newly built bungalow of great space and character. Its grounds are geared for all therapeutic activities. Service Users will have spacious bedrooms to themselves, with en suite facilities, they will be provided with a wardrobe, chest of drawers, two chairs, a lockable space, bed, bedding, toweling carpet and curtains. However they may wish to replace these with furniture of their own personal choice or add additional items. Service Users are encouraged to personalise their room and bring with them their favorite furnishings and possessions. There is also a large country style kitchen/dining area and large lounge.

Activities
Brampton View is able to provide a variety of ways that service users can be encouraged to enjoy social activities, hobbies and leisure interests. We try to help service users to continue to enjoy as wide a range of individual and group activities and interests as possible both inside and outside the home, to carry on with existing hobbies, pursuits and relationships, and to explore new avenues and experiences.

Brampton View has a well-established in-house activities program. However, our main focus is to enable service users to access community based activities as part of our social inclusion program as much as possible. This will provide service users with great opportunities to establish positive community links and enjoy their life to the full.

Staffing
Brampton View has professional staff on duty 24 hours a day,
7 days a week.

* All our staff complete a full training induction. They also receive ongoing mandatory training, as part of their personal development and as a legal requirement, to protect the service users’ safety and welfare.

* Most of the staff are N.V.Q. qualified or are prepared to register
to study for this award.

* All staff receive specialist training such as Working with People with Learning Disabilities, Managing Challenging Behavior, Breakaway Techniques, Community Links and Social Inclusion, Training Program in Mental Health, etc.

* The management approach aims to create an open, positive and inclusive atmosphere whilst protecting the rights, privacy, dignity and independence of the service users.

* High ratio of staffing levels enables service users to receive one to one support in order to adequately meet all of the service users' needs.
