Specialist Care - Wilmotts View

Wilmott’s View is a Victorian semi detached house set in very pleasant surroundings. Wilmott’s View is situated on one of the main roads of Rushden and is within short walking distance of town center and local amenities.

Aim
At Wilmott's View the rights of our service users are at the forefront of our philosophy of promoting independence and individuality in a supportive, caring environment. We seek to enhance these rights in all aspects of the services we provide.

The primary objective of the home is to deliver a high quality service working in partnership with other professionals, whilst providing a safe, comfortable atmosphere where individuals can feel at home.

Service
Wilmott's View is a registered residential care home for seven people, aged 18-65, with Learning Disabilities and/or associated conditions. The home provides a high level of support to individuals as part of a transition from residential care to supported living.

Facilities
Wilmott’s View offers seven single bedrooms all with en suite facilities. Two bedrooms are on the ground floor. There are two lounges on the ground floor and a large kitchen/dinning area. The garden area offers plenty of private seating areas.

Activities
The home provides a variety of ways that service users can be encouraged to enjoy social activities, hobbies and leisure interests and access the community. Service users are consulted individually in relation to their interests and wishes regarding social activities as part of their individual support plan process and at regular service meetings. Holidays are planned and supported based on the individual’s needs.

Wherever possible service users are supported accessing local community facilities for such activities as hairdressing, participating in religious activities or shopping.

Each service user will be encouraged to participate in their individual Person Centered Plan, enabling aspirations and giving maximum opportunities for developing independence and choice.

Staffing
The home is fully staffed 24 hours a day, this ratio reflects the needs of people living at the service and may include one to one support if required. An additional on- call service is also provided. All staff are competent and fully trained. All staff complete a thorough induction training program in line with the ‘Common Induction Standards’. All staff complete NVQ qualifications. Additional training is provided to meet individual service user’s specialist needs.

Wilmott's View has professional staff on duty 24 hours a day,
7 days a week.

* All our staff complete a full training induction. They also receive ongoing mandatory training, as part of their personal development and as a legal requirement, to protect the service users’ safety and welfare.

* Most of the staff are N.V.Q. qualified or are prepared to register
to study for this award.

* All staff receive specialist training such as Working with People with Learning Disabilities, Managing Challenging Behavior, Breakaway Techniques, Community Links and Social Inclusion.

* The management approach aims to create an open, positive and inclusive atmosphere whilst protecting the rights, privacy, dignity
and independence of the service users.

* High ratio of staffing levels enables service users to receive one to one support in order to adequately meet all of the service users' needs.
